The Omeo Historical Society Inc. administers
the Omeo Historic Park, which is located in
the heart of Omeo township, in
East Gippsland, Victoria.

The "new" courthouse (its only a bit over 100 ), pictured left
(snow in June 2004), is still an operational court on two occasions
every year and at other times is open as part of the historic park.
Also visible towards the rear of the park in this photo is the original
Courthouse. This building now houses some of our collection.
Prior to its building in 1858 court was held in a marquee and prisoners
were chained to trees.
(see "short park tour" for more information
on these two buildings)
